Stormy Yosemite Valley
Another in the endless variations of light and clouds in Yosemite Valley during winter. This shot presented itself only after standing in driving rain for 3 hours looking at near white-out cloud overage. Finally late in the afternoon the clouds parted just enough to shoot about 25 exposures and that was it!! 25 decent exposures is all I got out of a total of 4 hours standing at Tunnel View in the freezing rain.

The Shot

Bucky
This was the last shot I took underneath this storm before the precipitation came and we had to book it out of there. The quality of the light was simply aweseome, in the true sense of the word. The colors were not altered in this picture at all. This was taken while storm chasing with Silver Lining Tours.

You can see the whole halo effect around the sun. It was -10^F and just a little cold out this morning. Apparently, the conditions were right for parhelia.

Southern Maine had its first big snowstorm of the season yesterday and this morning, so I headed out to my personal obsession: Portland Headlight, to capture another season.

After a long week of storms, large waves and hardly winds, today the waves reached the 7-8 meters of height. On the Lighthouse of Mouro the large waves struck all day. With sun or without him; other times rain or cloudy.I remained 3 or 4 hours carrying out photos. WIND information: www.windguru.com

It does some years that the Lighthouse was beheaded by Coasts, passing to the category of beacon. The last incident of certain importance happened in February of 1996 when the system of lighting remained destroyed by a temporary one, remaining dull several days by the impossibility of agreeing to him. The Island of Mouro, declared reserves marine, is a habitual place of I dive. The waves that whip it in days of temporary they are used to surpassing the height of the lighthouse. This is my oldest hen. She has learned to outsmart my dog who herds my free ranging hens into the coop in the evening. She just rolls over and plays dead. Ruby tries to nudge her to move but she won't budge. I usually have to go pick up the hen now and put her away. Ruby has never hurt out hens.
